1949
Schreck Kitchens was founded by Emil Schreck. Schreck and two skilled craftsmen used Old World techniques to build quality kitchen cabinets at his store in Lombard.
1969
R. Allan Bowman and William Ward became partners and the new owners of Schreck Kitchens. Throughout the years the company flourished on the premise of quality, expertise, service and value.
1981
Schreck Kitchens doubles the size of its showroom with a move to South Elgin. With this move, two additional quality cabinetry manufacturers were added to their offerings.
2015
To better serve their clients, Schreck Kitchens created Bowman Design Group in order to bring in additional talented kitchen designers to meet an ever increasing demand for their products and services.
Today
Bowman’s sons, Robert, Tom and Craig continue to operate the company with the same values and customer appreciation that has kept Schreck Kitchens successful for the past 65 plus years.

With a combined experience of 100 years in the design world, each owner has the background of growing up in an industry for his entire life. They remain dedicated to the craft, attending annual training in kitchen design to keep up with the latest trends. They are also members of the National Kitchen & Bath Association.

From start to finish the whole process went smoothly. Schreck Kitchens have a beautiful showroom in South Elgin. From the first time we met, it was a fairly easy process. They were very patient and helpful listening to what we wanted, selecting the cabinets, the design process, ordering the cabinets, choosing the Cambria countertops and the delivery of the cabinets straight to our home. Schreck Kitchens was also very informative on the different types of cabinets, countertops, etc.
Our cabinets were customized to our needs to include special cabinet sizes, soft door closings, pullout shelving etc… They made multiple trips to our home for the design process and also checked on the installation progress and came to check on the finished product to make sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. They also had a great installer.
We now have our dream kitchen! It was a pleasure working with Schreck Kitchens and we would definitely recommend and use Schreck Kitchens again.
